CBLO (CORA-Based Leveling Osteotomy) - surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament.
This method allows modification of the tibial plateau without disturbing the structures of the joint. The procedure is planned based on the determination of the CORA (crenter of rotation and angulation) point, i.e. the intersection of the mechanical axes of the bone.
While healing after a TPLO procedure takes 8-10 weeks, with CBLO it takes 5-6 weeks in most cases.
This procedure is dedicated to patients with a high TPA angle and and is suitable for treating both large and small breed dogs. An additional advantage of CBLO is that it can be performed in growing animals.
The surgical technique, with the proximal fragment of the tibia left larger than in TPLO, is not only a convenience for the operator, but also a simultaneous opportunity to correct the dislocation of the patella.
