Ultrasound diagnostics
Ultrasound is one of the diagnostic imaging options used in daily medical practice. Ultrasound allows imaging of organs in the abdominal cavity or chest, among others.
Such an examination is non-invasive for both the patient and bystanders, in most cases does not require anesthesia, hence why we use it very often in diagnostic proceedings.
Most often we perform this examination in animals lying on their backs in special positioners to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
Before the ultrasound examination, it is necessary to properly prepare the pet. One of the factors that seriously distort the image is the food content present in the digestive tract. However, not in every case does the pet need to be fasting - the length of any fasting is selected individually depending on the scope of the examination.
Ultrasound is excellent for diagnosing disorders involving inflammation (e.g., stomach, pancreas), stones (e.g., urinary tract, biliary tract) or tumors (e.g., cancer), among others.
Ultrasound is also used to diagnose pregnancy and to evaluate a patient in an emergency - for example, to see if blood collects in the abdominal cavity after an accident.
We also perform tests on behalf of other clinics.
