A quick and accurate diagnosis of the ailment is necessary to start an effective treatment. We know how important the diagnosis is. This is why Vetriver clinic personnel thoroughly examine all pets. This is possible in part due to our state-of-the-art laboratory that offers complete blood count, blood chemistry, urinalysis, and other tests. There are also microscopes available for our veterinarians to conduct blood smear and cytology examinations.
Besides laboratory tests, we also provide ultrasound examinations for cats and dogs. Vetriver offers comprehensive and thorough diagnostics procedures.
Our hematology analyzer is used to perform complete blood count tests (which involves assessing the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets). The results of this test in combination with clinical presentation help diagnose tick-borne diseases, which cause anemia (via intravascular hemolysis), inflammatory conditions (leukocytosis), and many, many other abnormalities which are common causes of visits at our Clinic. Obtained test results must always be interpreted in combination with comprehensive physical examination findings because the stress caused by a visit to the vet may produce misleading test results (e.g. stress leukogram).
Our blood chemistry analyzer is used mainly in diagnosing (organ-related) metabolic disorders, such as diabetes mellitus, liver disease, kidney disease, orthopedic conditions, heart conditions, etc.
This testing system is used for assessing somatic hormone levels, which helps diagnose diseases of the thyroid gland (e.g. overactive thyroid gland, or hyperthyroidism; hypothyroidism) and adrenal glands (e.g. overactive adrenal glands, or Cushing disease; underactive adrenals, or Addison disease), as well as sex hormone levels (e.g. progesterone), which help determine the optimum mating period, and many other tests.
A centrifuge is used to prepare whole blood for testing and to obtain blood serum.
A urinalysis analyzer is used in diagnosing urinary system disorders, such as: acute nephritis, inflammatory conditions of the urinary tract, urinary tract hemorrhage (bleeding), tumors of the urinary system, and other conditions, including pyometra, diabetes mellitus, liver dysfunction, primary hepatobiliary conditions (i.e. diseases of the liver and bile ducts), poisoning, and many, many more relatively common and less uncommon conditions.
A microscope is used to examine a blood smear or a cytological preparation, At Vetriver, we conduct fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy for diagnosing cancer. The knowledge and experience of our veterinary specialist Joanna Sieczka makes this examination possible even during the biopsy procedure.
An incubator is used for conducting IRAP procedures.
