  • Regenerative medicine - stem cell and platelet-rich plasma therapy

    08/11/2023

Regenerative medicine uses techniques that support our body's own ability to rebuild and heal damaged tissues and organs.

The Angel System is even more powerful than other methods of obtaining stem cells. Its creator, the American company Cytomedix, one of the giants in the regenerative medicine market, specializes in methods to obtain stem cells and platelet-rich plasma.

Angel System stem cell therapy regenerates tissue and prevents further degeneration, and in the case of joint disease, reduces pain. It can therefore be an alternative to invasive surgery, which involves implanting an endoprosthesis.

Stem cells and platelets are naturally occurring components of the blood and bone marrow that play an important role in healing and tissue regeneration; they have the capacity for an almost infinite number of divisions and "ability" to transform into other types of specialized cells. Platelets, on the other hand, contain substances called growth factors, which stimulate stem cells to regenerate. Thanks to their properties, they are used in a wide range of treatments, especially in orthopedics.

It makes it possible to produce two types of preparations in a special centrifuge:

    • MSC/BMA (Mesenchymal Stem Cells Concentrate/Bone Marrow Aspirate) - a low-volume concentrate containing several times more stem cells than the patient's baseline marrow.
    • PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) - a small-volume concentrate containing several times more platelets than the patient's baseline blood.

The use of stem cells (MSCs) and highly concentrated platelets with growth factors (PRP) injected into the site of injury, promotes and accelerates healing, stimulates cell and tissue growth, promotes the repair of tendon structures and the formation of blood vessels. These properties make the Angel System increasingly widely used in orthopedics to treat conditions such as:

    • Advanced arthrosis (osteoarthritis), especially acute conditions with loss of joint cartilage.
    • Chondromalacia, injuries and reconstructions of articular cartilage
    • Muscle and tendon injuries
    • Bone fusion disorders
    • Acceleration of regeneration in particular of evulsion fractures
    • Activation of regenerative processes of dedicated tissue
    • Damage to tissues requiring reconstruction

The effects of Angel System stem cell therapy are noticeable after up to 8 weeks, and pain reduction can be as high as 75%.

For joint disease, the frequency and number of Angel System stem cell or PRP injections required depends on the recommendations of the orthopedic specialist. In order to prevent osteoarthritis, it is believed that treatments should be repeated every one or two years.
